Salt! Itβs a rock that makes things taste better, whatβs not to love? This recipe takes all my favorite savory ingredients and combines them into one kickass seasoning that is a perfect all-purpose flavor enhancer. Itβs become a staple in our house, and itβs great for pretty much anything youβd add a bit of salt to! Weβve used it on chicken, pasta, pizza crust, mixed into butter, potatoes, and pretty much anything else you can think of!
Hereβs how you make it!
Ingredients:
1Β½ cups coarse kosher salt
3-4 sprigs of fresh thyme
3-4 sprigs of fresh rosemary
3-4 sprigs of fresh sage
3-4 cloves of garlic (peeled)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 170Β°F (or the lowest it will go if it doesnβt go all the way down to 170)
Carefully remove herbs from their stems and pour leaves, salt, and garlic into a food processor. Pulse until garlic and herbs are incorporated and there are no large chunks.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pour salt mixture onto the lined tray. Spread out the salt into a uniform layer, then place in the oven
Allow the salt to bake, checking and stirring in 30 minute intervals until it has dried (usually within 2hrs) You will likely need to break it up a few times as it will cake together a bit.
Once dried, allow to cool and store in an airtight container.
aaand hatβs it! This one is super simple and thereβs lots of room to get creative. You could add other herbs or ingredients like lemon zest and pepper flakes.
I hope you enjoy!
